Mike Heding

About me

From a young age, I was fascinated with Computers and Technology. It all started when my father took over the IT responsibilities for my grandfather’s catering business, where I would tag along as a child to help in any way that I could. As the business grew, he needed more people to work on small projects around the office. I was allowed to install and repair the computers and peripherals in the office. As a reward for helping, I got the old hardware passed down to me. I was always swapping out computers, components, and peripherals, which not only increased my interest, but also kept me up-to-date with the latest consumer-grade tech. Eventually, the jobs around the office got too big for me, and I was eventually eliminated by a proper IT department. Even though I continue to keep up with computer technology, I find myself nostalgic of the simpler times when computer technology seemed less complicated compared to the abundance of resources and tools we have available today.

Robert William Park Water Association

When I resided in Milwaukee, our water was delivered using a well. The well system was comprised of residents that had the well water delivered to them, as well as members of the board to assist in communicating events, answering questions, and providing data on the maintenance of the well system. The board was struggling with their technology needs, taking all concerns and questions by phone. I volunteered to create a website so meetings, questions, and concerns could be posted and asked electronically. I created rwpwa.org using squarespace as a solution. The website was well received and still stands to this day even though I no longer maintain the site and am no longer on the board.
